Well, not exactly – Apple has added two new faces to its executive team, Scott Forstall (pictured, now senior vice president, iPhone software) and Bob Mansfield (now senior vice president, Mac hardware engineering). Forstall reports directly to Jobs, and is responsible for the development of iPhone software, “including the user interface, applications, frameworks and the operating system,” according to Apple, at least. As reported by German Mac news website, Mac Essentials, m-Store is offering deals on iMacs, including 0% finance and a free HP printer. The German site is convinced these deals suggest new models are looming, saying (Google Translate): “At next week, stay tuned: On Monday, the quarterly results on Tuesday … an Apple Tuesday?” Supplies of iMacs have been dwindling in recent weeks. Speculation had existed claiming Apple intended some kind of announcement on October 13, but with the company’s results due on October 19 the company usually keeps quiet in the preceding week or two....

EA revealed during its quarterly earnings call that the next Battlefield game will remain focused on live service, and will take several years to release, with a target of fiscal year 2022 - a change to the game’s usual release pattern of every two years or so. Battlefield V, the most recent iteration of the franchise, was initially viewed as extremely promising by fans who were wowed by the scale of its maps and multiplayer and still intrigued by the extremely powerful narrative from Battlefield 1, but ultimately the game stumbled out of the gate and never really recovered its footing....

Netflix’s The Crown will end following season 5, despite the expectation the show would air for six seasons. Images of what appears to be the face and screen assembly of the next iPhone have appeared on the Taiwanese blog AppleClub [translation]. To overcome this, WhatsApp has today announced the roll-out of a new option that would allow users to prevent other people from adding them into groups. With the new update, starting to roll-out today for some, users will get three options: ‘Everyone’ – allows anyone to add you to groups, ‘My contacts’ – only the contacts present on your device can add you to groups, and ‘Nobody’ – as soon as someone adds you to groups, you will have the option to approve or decline the request, under the ‘Groups’ settings....
