New photos from Rambo V: Last Blood explore the combat history of the title character. Rambo wasn’t conceived as a franchise, with the original ending of First Blood featuring the character committing suicide. Test audiences hated this bleak ending, especially with Stallone so closely tied to underdog roles like Rocky. The ending was thus reshot and the movie’s surprise success led to Rambo: First Blood Part II being greenlit. While the original was more of a psychological drama, the sequel was a full-on action movie, with the central character taking down an entire army by himself....

Earlier today, Google released a beta build of Android 7.1.2 for its Pixel and Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. Missing from the list were Google’s 2015 Nexus devices, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. The company has now confirmed that going forward, these two Nexus devices will only receive security updates and no Android updates. Missing out on the Android 7.1.2 should not be a big deal for Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 owners since the update does not contain any major changes or feature improvements....

After promising HomeKit support for its Arlo Baby Camera line, Netgear has released an app update that makes the baby monitor cameras work with Apple HomeKit. Color me impressed! If you’ve never heard of neumorphism, you’re not alone. One of the visual changes in macOS Big Sur to have attracted a lot of comment is what some have suggested is a partial return to skeuomorphism: icons designed to look like real-world objects. It is, some have argued, Apple coming full circle: from 3D to flat and now back to 3D. But Jack Koloskus, lead designer for Input and The Outline, says that Apple is moving forwards, not backward…...

Netflix today has updated its iOS app with a handful of new features and enhancements. The update bumps the app to version 8.0 and includes auto-play support for iPhone users, 3D Touch support, and iPad Pro display optimization. First off, the update brings what Netflix calls the “post-play experience” to iPhone users. This is the screen you see when you finish watching a TV or movie with recommendations for what to watch next and, if it’s a series, the support for auto-playing the next episode....

Almost a year ago, a comment by Tim Cook suggested that he had experienced using an Apple Pencil on an iPhone. Patently Apple later spotted a series of patents describing just this, and two more have been published today … The site noted that the language is clear. Although an iPhone screen may be small for drawing, iOS 11 adds the ability to use the Pencil to markup webpages, emails, screenshots and more – and of course it can also be used for taking handwritten notes....

Most advanced CyanogenMod users must already installed CM13 nightlies on their device, but for those of you who prefer stability and are still on Lollipop-based CM12.1, here is some good news: the CM team has started rolling out a new snapshot build of the ROM. Based on Android 5.1, the latest snapshot builds of CyanogenMod 12.1 bring with them security patches and some relatively minor new features. Being a snapshot build, you can be rest assured that they are completely stable for day-to-day usage....

The filing, first reported by Consomac.fr, includes several model numbers for a device that runs iPadOS 15 and another device that will use iOS 15. The devices will likely be a new iPad Air and a new iPhone SE, both of which Apple is rumored to be readying for release this spring. The new iPhone model numbers are A2595, A2783 and A2784, while the iPad has several model numbers: A2436, A2588, A2696, A2759, A2437, A2589, A2591, A2757, A2761, A2766 and A2777....

Nuro, a relative newcomer but already a leader in the space, just unveiled its third-generation zero-occupant autonomous delivery vehicle. Designed with delivery in mind, the new Nuro can carry more goods and enable more deliveries, with twice the cargo volume of the company’s current vehicle. The automotive production-grade vehicle will also feature modular inserts to customize storage and new temperature-controlled compartments to keep goods warm or cool and safety enhancements to further improve safety for pedestrians outside the vehicle....

The latest Terminator: Dark Fate box office projections are lower than originally anticipated, pointing to an opening worse than Terminator Salvation. Despite the property seeing continuously diminishing returns following the highs of Judgment Day in 1991, Hollywood refuses to let the franchise die. Both Salvation and 2015’s Terminator Genisys were intended to launch a new trilogy, but those films performed so poorly commercially, the planned sequels were scrapped. Once again, an attempt is being made to revive Terminator, this time with original creator James Cameron in tow as producer....

At first glance, the main characters of NCIS would seem to all be morally lawful or good and the criminals to be morally evil and/or chaotic according to Dungeons and Dragons’ moral alignments. For any well-written character, alignments are not as simple as law enforcement being, well, lawful, or criminals being evil. The same is true for the main characters of NCIS. Some of the characters are actually more neutral than good or lawful, which can be seen when looking at an individual character’s actions and personalities alongside their chosen livelihood....

The full trailer for Netflix’s new series What/If welcomes Renée Zellweger to her first starring role in a television series, as she offers co-star Jane Levy an indecent proposal. The streaming giant offered a brief sneak peek and a premiere date announcement just last week, with a teaser trailer that didn’t deliver any actual footage from the show, but instead opted to hint at the concept with one heavy metaphor. Netflix’s new show The Witcher has been in very high demand despite bad reviews. Releasing just a week ago on December 20th, the eight-episode season 1 is an adaptation covering part of the first book in the The Witcher series from Polish fantasy author Andrzej Sapkowski. It stars Henry Cavill, also known as Superman in Man of Steel, as Geralt of Rivia, the titular Witcher, a genetically altered human trained to hunt down the dangerous and magical monsters of the world....

Less than 24 hours after Google put the Nexus Player up for pre-order in the United States via the Play Store, it has put up an “out of inventory” tag for it. The reason? The Nexus Player is yet to receive Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) approval before it can go on sale in the United States. Google explicitly lists this information on the Nexus Player’s product page as well. At the moment, it is not yet known when the Nexus Player will get FCC’s approval and go on sale in the United States....
