That was recently debunked, so now all eyes are out for any references to Nexus-branded devices all over again. That includes what is being called the Nexus 8, the rumored successor to the Nexus 7. In a report originally published by Phandroid, a database entry could lend some credence to the possibility of the Nexus 8’s existence....

Debuting next week, The New York Times is taking the iPhone-only route with its new NYT Now app. The idea is simple enough. There are two interesting pieces of information this morning on the new iPad. If used solely as an LTE MiFi, AnandTech got a mind-numbing 25.3 hours of Verizon LTE hotspotting out of the new iPad. That is equal to about five to seven MiFis. By my calculations, that means you could download 182GB of data at 2MB/sec on LTE through a single charge or over 18 times Verizon’s highest data plan in a single day....

The director of the new Saw reboot teases a sickening death scene. The Saw franchise was created back in 2003 when James Wan directed a short that ultimately led to a feature-length film in 2004. Saw has gotten many sequels over the years, most recently Jigsaw, which was released two years ago. In a surprising announcement, it was revealed that Chris Rock was developing a Saw reboot with plans to release the film next year....

Yesterday, thanks to some FCC documents filling, we managed to get our first look on what the Nexus 5 from LG will look like. Today, we have some more information about the device, once again thanks to the FCC filling and some good investigative work by the folks over at PhoneArena. The torn-down Nexus 5 that appeared in yesterday’s FCC images uses the same OIS camera module as seen on the LG G2....

Last year, after years of releasing Nexus devices that compromised on one aspect or the another, Google managed to hit a home run with the Huawei-made Nexus 6P. Sure, the handset was gargantuan with its 5.7-inch display and front-facing stereo speakers, but it had great battery life and decent camera — something which previous Nexus smartphones lacked. This year, Google is replacing the Nexus 6P with the Pixel XL. As Google puts it, the new Pixel smartphones have been completely developed and designed in-house by the company, with the OEM — HTC — having no input in it....

Niantic, developer of popular augmented reality games Pokémon Go and Ingress, plans to host community events for players in public spaces around the U.S. through a partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The company announced the project today, with the first event set to kick off this weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina. The events will take players on a tour of certain public spaces with a predetermined route that will include, for example, PokéStops and Gyms to interact with the Pokémon Go game along the way....
