In its headline figure, the report said fixed-wireless NBN users only received 78.5% of the advertised download speed on average, which dropped to 68% in busy hours, and uploads sat at 58% in all hours and dropped to 52% in busy hours. For Fixed Wireless Plus users, a best effort service slated to provide 25-50Mbps down and 5-20Mbps up, the percentages translated to a download speed range of 50Mbps on average in the dead of night, down to 30Mbps at 8pm, and for uploads, the range was just above 6Mbps after midnight, and just above 4Mbps during the evening....

Netflix cancels the figure skating drama Spinning Out after one season. The series was created by a former competitive figure skater, Samantha Stratton, and it premiered on the streaming service in January 2020. Following athletes on the way to fulfilling their Olympic dreams, the cast of Spinning Out included Kaya Scodelario, Willow Shields, Evan Roderick, January Jones, and Johnny Weir in a recurring role. The drama centered around Kat Baker (Scodelario), an ambitious figure skater who is facing the possibility of retirement after a devastating fall....

Fans will finally get a fresh look at The New Mutants, with a new official trailer announced for next week. Co-written and directed by The Fault in Our Stars’ Josh Boone, The New Mutants was initially scheduled to follow the massively underperforming Dark Phoenix installment as the next stage of the X-Men saga. Boone and fellow co-writer Knate Lee pitched the film as the first part of a new trilogy, based on the comic book series crafted by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod....

A new video published by Unbox Therapy provides a closer look at an alleged third-party case for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6 that was recently shown off in a set of photos. The AT&T Netgear Nighthawk mobile hotspot launches today to anyone who is looking to bring 5G speeds to their existing devices. It follows an earlier limited rollout of a less-capable 5G mobile hotspot back in 2018… The latest device supports both sub-6GHz 5G and the much faster but shorter-range mmWave 5G. Any device can connect to it via Wi-Fi in order to get access to the 5G connection. CNET reports that it will be available to buy outright or on a 30-month interest-free installment plan from Friday....

On March 10 of this year, experts have recorded a spam campaign aimed at members of the media and production companies. Phishing emails contained a malicious document that exploits the vulnerability CVE-2014-1761 and CVE-2012-0158 to download Panda Banker from a remote server. March 19, researchers found another campaign, and this time, attackers focused on financial organizations. The Malicious documents contain macros that download a loader which is known as Godzilla, and the loader Godzilla starts downloading the banking trojan Panda Banker....

ZeniMax announced a new chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online entitled Greymoor, which brings Western Skyrim and Blackreach to the MMORPG among several other new features this June. Much like the mainline Bethesda-developed titles like 2011’s Skyrim and 2006’s Oblivion, The Elder Scrolls Online has players create their own adventurer to travel across the continent of Tamriel, complete quests, and fight monsters, this time with the ability to play online with friends, create and join guilds, and many other features common to massively multiplayer online games such as World of Warcraft....

The Twitter account AppleDemoYT is notorious for sharing Apple prototypes, and today they’ve shared a first look at some never-before-seen prototype lightning cables. Lightning was marketed as a major improvement over the old iPod 30-pin connector primarily for its ability to be reversible. But this prototype calls into question if that was intended to be the case from the start. When lightning was introduced alongside the iPhone 5 in 2012, Apple’s pitch was that it was digital, smaller, and reversible....

The Pokémon Company held a press conference this evening and shared four announcements for upcoming hardware and software releases. One new focus is using Pokémon to help users get a good night’s sleep with both new hardware and software. The company also teased the upcoming “Pokémon Home” cloud service and more. The first iOS related announcement is Pokémon Home, which will be a cloud service to synchronize players’ progress between iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch....

A new analyst survey published today offers some insight as to what consumers are looking for in future generation iPhones. Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson shared the results of a survey he conducted with 1,500 people who did not recently purchase a new iPhone, finding three primary factors preventing those users from upgrading… The survey, the results of which were shared by Barron’s, shows that the top reason those people haven’t recently upgraded is because their current iPhone “works just fine,” with 44 percent of people choosing that answer....

Microsoft Rewrites Paint for Windows 10 Earlier this year, leaks previewing universal versions of apps such as Notepad and Paint started appearing on the Windows Store. Many users were anticipating the updates would become available with the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. For Microsoft, it’s been a five-year transition modernizing many of the built-in components in Windows. At the company’s software developer conference, Build, Microsoft introduced a tool called Desktop Bridge to help developers package their legacy desktop applications into universal apps, providing a means to distribute desktop apps through the Windows Store....

About a year after its release last July, NBC is finally adding support for a basic feature on its streaming platform. Today, Peacock is adding support for profiles on Android and iOS among other platforms. An app update available on Android and iOS today brings support for user profiles on Peacock, enabling families to share the same account but split their watchlists, viewing history, and recommendations based on the current user....
