The biggest part of the update is arguably the Appraisal system. Players can now get in-depth info on how good their Pokemon is, as well as hidden stats called IVs (Individual Values).

How the Appraisal System Works

When you select menu that can transfer your Pokemon, you will also have the option for Appraisal. When you choose this, your team leader will say 3 phrases:

How your Pokemon is overall Your Pokemon’s best stats The size of your Pokemon

There are 3 stats and each can have a max IV of 15 for a total of 45 if all are maxed. They can also have 0 in each. This does not mean they won’t have any stats. It just means they aren’t increased at all.

Each message gives you an indication on how your Pokemon is, but the messages differ depending on the team leader.

First, she will tell you your Pokemon’s highest stat.

“I see that its best attribute is (Attack/Defense/HP). "

Your Pokemon can also have 2 or all 3 stats equal to the highest stat. If this happens she says:

“It is matched equally by its (Attack/Defense/HP). "

After that, she says a message to determine the number of those stats.
