During a demo on Chinese social media site Weibo, Xiaomi used a modified Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro to show off the new tech in a wireless charge test, and the numbers were impressive. As we said, it will go from zero to 100% in just 40 minutes, but it can get you to a respectable 57% charge in a blistering 20 minutes. Now we know what you’re thinking: who is Xiaomi? Well it’s a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has been making huge strides in the last few years and its latest handset, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, looks like it might be the smartphone that finally helps them break through into the mainstream.

A new challenger appears

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro was released in China back in February and was supposed to be unveiled for international release at this MWC 2020, but the event was cancelled (opens in new tab) due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and worries about spreading the virus. Since then we’ve heard nothing from Xiaomi, but it seems likely that the company is scrambling to get its own reveal event together so they can move ahead with the worldwide launch. When the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro does eventually launch to the wider world, we’ll give you our thoughts on this upstart smartphone that would challenge giants like the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus (opens in new tab) and iPhone 11 Pro (opens in new tab). With an expected price of somewhere in the region of $787, the Xiaomi Mi Pro looks like it will be an absolute bargain when compared with similarly equipped phones.
