Whether this means that we will be getting Diablo 4 sometime in the near future is still up for speculation, but it has been over 4 years since the release of Diablo 3. With the recent hype for Overwatch that Blizzard is still basking in like the summer sun, it isn’t surprising that they want to take advantage of their company’s name being on everybody’s minds.
Of course, this could also be something completely different than the next installment of the Diablo franchise. An expansion for Diablo 3 is possible, as it has been 2 years since the release of “Reaper of Souls”.
However, the listing states that Blizzard is specifically looking for someone who can help “lead the Diablo series into the future.” The “future” could mean a lot of things. Maybe we’ll see a Diablo expansion for Hearthstone or something similar, but my gut tells me that Blizzard is going to try to milk the exposure Overwatch is giving them as much as they can, and that means big announcements while they are still in the lime light.
